Abstract

This layer is a subset of the full Environment and Climate Change Canada weather station locations and was created to identifycurrent weather stations within the Manitoba Great Lake Watershed. It was created as part of the Weather Keeper ProgramProject - a collaboration between the Manitoba Métis Federation and the Centre for Earth Observation Science. Weatherstations attribute were merged with National Hydro Network - NHN - GeoBase Series layer attributes to provide the location forthe major drainage basin the weather stations are located in.

Purpose

The Weather Keeper Program is a collaboration between the Manitoba Métis Federation and the Centre for Earth ObservationScience at the University of Manitoba, to support the collection of atmospheric data in the Manitoba Great Lakes region. Thisprogram is a co-developed, and jointly managed, monitoring network that will provide information on how the Manitoba GreatLakes respond to land-use changes and variability in weather. This program also gives insight into the local and regional effects ofclimate change.
